Berlin is a blast. It reminds me of New York in the 1980s and ‘90s, but has, of course, its own distinctive flavor. I think Berlin is the most vibrant city in Europe. London’s a rip off. Paris is arrogant… Berlin is like a big, creative bomb that’s ready to detonate.
About
Well known for his infamous re-tooling of comic heroes (ie. Superman, Batman, The Incredible Hulk, etc), Kostas’ re-appropriation of Americana comic iconography allows one to approach these characters in novel ways. Kostas replicates these characters so well, in fact, he seems to pay homage to the creators of these comic figures, and at the same time sheds some sort of underlying commentary on how these characters are registered within the context of street art vs. pop art. Yet make no mistake—Kostas is an artist in many mediums. His work receives influence from fashion to punk rock to, as Kostas puts it, “open seditions.” His work is avidly sought from a handful of collectors, comprised of private/corporate and celebrity sectors.
