Each month, Kino Arsenal screens more than 100 films and videos: historical, modern, academic, popular, highbrow and cult, they are all expressions of a curatorial concept that sees cinema as being in a constant state of flux, and therefore something that is to be constantly “reinvented.”

Arsenal’s programming goes beyond preserving film history and addresses developments in contemporary international cinema and media arts, plus accompanying discourses.

Along these lines, programming at the Arsenal experiments with altered media possibilities, new exhibition forms, and the very limits of cinema itself. Through numerous audience discussions with filmmakers as well as conferences held in the cinema, the Arsenal ensures a lively form of public relations.

For these reasons, the Arsenal is more than just a cinema: It is a place for communication, for education and research, a workshop for reflection on the filmic object in the context of image and media culture in the 21st century.Quote_transparent
