Everything else but an insider’s tip, Cafe Einstein is a Berlin institution par excellence.

An elegant Viennese coffeehouse in a 1920’s villa, the waiters and waitresses serve classic Wiener schnitzel and house made cakes in black and white uniforms. Einstein’s visitors are the Berlin cultural who’s who. While this was particularly true during West Berlin’s heyday, the institution opened a second location on Unter den Linden in order to better serve members of Parliament and tourists in need of a mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Additionally, during the warmer months, Einstein is home to a lovely garden where patrons can read the newspaper while enjoying classic warm apfel strüdel.Quote_transparent

All you really need to know in German is: Ich hätte gerne das Wiener Schnitzel mit Gurkensalat. Pure class. Even my Neapolitan friends that live and breath quality food were impressed. It’s hands down my favorite restaurant/cafe in town.
