Something of a revival has begun over recent months in the area surrounding the intersection of Chausseestrasse and Invalidenstrasse. A number of establishments are popping up in an effort to rejuvenate the area and La Bonne Franquette is one of those leading the way.

A new French brasserie that could have come straight out of Paris’ Latin Quarter, LBF serves up simple versions of the classics. Even their name itself evokes their vision: to do something “à la bonne franquette” in French means to do it frankly but pleasingly, without bells and whistles. In addition to an À La Carte menu featuring dishes like Entrecôte Frites and Tartare de Boeuf, the restaurant offers up a weekly rotating list of lunchtime specials, which they are happy to send you by email ahead of time so you can be sure not to miss your favorites.

Come here for your Moules or Côtelette d’Agneau (mussels or lamb chops) and your hearty Foie de Veau (calve’s liver), and don’t forget to finish off the meal with a Crème Brulée or the all-important cheese plate. Throw in a well-priced bottle or glass from their excellent wine list and you have the makings of a meal that may cause you to come over all Parisian and forget you’re in Berlin at all.

At lunchtime, 10€ will get you two plates off their rotating weekly menu plus a drink. That might just be one of the best lunch deals in town short of a Döner.

Also note: A secluded room in the back can be booked for private groups of up to 20 people.Quote_transparent
