Serving traditional Korean comfort food in an open canteen-style setting, Yam Yam has become one of Mitte’s premier dining spots. Housed in the former premises of progressive fashion store Best Shop, Yam Yam is the new venture from Sumi Ha, who six months ago decided to return to her first love: food.
All dishes are authentic, with no dulling down of the intense flavors. Arriving sizzling on an iron hot plate, the mung bean pancake filled with mixed seafood and spring onions is an unassuming delight. Our tip is to take a generous bowl of the popular bibimbab with tender beef, seasonal vegetables and fried egg on steaming white rice—best accompanied, of course, with lashings of hot korean paprika paste.
The mostly white interior is contemporary yet comfortable with the decorative, exposed ceiling fixtures adding a touch of old fashioned elegance to the space. An entire wall shelf houses a stylishly curated library of magazine titles to peruse at your leisure. Yam Yam’s great atmosphere and delicious cuisine is sure to please, whether you’re in for a tasty snack or a relaxed meal with friends.
