In the heart of Kreuzberg, at Mariannenplatz, the young Berlin publishing house Onkel & Onkel is in full swing. While upcoming successes are planned and marketed upstairs, downstairs a choice selection of graphic design books and magazines is ripe for purchase.
Of course, the publishing house’s own releases like the Führerquartett calendar of dead musicians, Zozoville calendars and the newest book by Tor Åge Bringsværd are all available as well. In addition, hard-to-get copies of university zines, illustrated books and street art photo-books by befriended publishers are offered in the homey, private-library-like atmosphere.
From May 2011 Onkel & Onkel’s Kreuzberg shop will close it’s doors to the Berlin public. They plan to remain in the publishing game so for the latest info and to see what they are up to check their website.
