Walking into the Regent is like stumbling upon a marble quarry. The intimate and polished lobby is covered in marble, from the arch ways to the floor to the reception desk, continuing in the lavishly adorned guest bathrooms. Not much has changed since the hotel changed from the Four Seasons to the Regent a short four years ago—the rooms are still excessively big (ranging anywhere from 40 square meters to over 200 square meters) and the intricate custom carpet is still under foot.
With views of the Gendarmenmarkt, the hotel sits on one of the most expensive pieces of Berlin’s real estate. It is clear that the motto, “The customer is always right,” rings true here and while the service is doting it is never claustrophobically so.
The biggest change in the new management is the hotel’s restaurant, Fischers Fritz, the only two-starred Michelin restaurant in the city. The restaurant is also responsible for all on-site cooking, so splurge on the à la carte breakfast, it’s worth it.
