Just off the scenic Paul Linke Ufer, the otherwise quiet Mariannenstrasse plays host to the neighborhood bar Das Hotel, a take-it-as-it-comes split-level establishment where crowds gather around to watch a documentary on TV or enjoy beers outside. It’s hip but not stuffy.
The recent addition of two neighboring bars has made HOTEL a three-headed affair of sorts. To the right, a cavernous bar resembling an underground Prohibition-era knees-up has DJs playing danceable vintage vinyl, mainly of a Latin, ‘60s or ‘90s flavor. Meanwhile, a third door whisks you through to a delightfully rustic bar, relaxed music and choice wine in tumblers for a snip. True to its accommodating name, it’s all a bit romantic here: the Parisian feel of the old wood tables, high ceilings and candlelight charm you into submission.
