If the walls of this Charlottenburg venue could talk, they’d likely impart, in a smokey subdued tone, debauched tales involving jazz legends Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Nina Hill, Alice Coltrane, Diana Krall—all of whom have graced A-Trane’s stage. This Berlin jazz institution is everything it should be—intimate, dark, very popular and rife with history.
Monday sees local jazz cats perform, while the late-night sessions on Saturdays have established themselves as the go-to spot for jazz enthusiasts: different musicians come by around 00:30 and join in on a jam session with saxophones and trumpets in tow. In line with the relaxed environment, these late-night happenings are free of charge.
