Berlin’s youngest club, Badlands—a perfect example of post-Wall club life—is now a thing of the past. But have no fear, the club that hosted swanky Mitte fashionistas and a smattering of West Berliners venturing over the now-invisible line for a night of posh drinking and dancing has been renamed. Thus, the birth of Violet.
Completely black with three disco balls hanging centrally above the dance floor, space is well-laid out—with an interesting play on levels and stairs—but given its rather grim walls and black box look, the only thing to watch is the other patrons. Luckily, they make for a good night of gawking.
