The Plänterwald forest lies slightly outside the city, on the south-east side of Treptower park. Tap into your inner Rilke with a long walk on the “Poetensteig” (poet’s path) towards the “Eierhäuschen” (egg house), which originally housed the park’s overseer who would sell fresh eggs to the boats that would float by on the Spree.

Or just bring a mini-grill and some bratwurst and enjoy the sun. Either way, it’s bound to be relaxing.Quote_transparent

Beautiful forest located behind Treptower Park. The experience of walking through this forest until you hit the banks of the river Spree makes you forget that you are just a stones throw away from a city with over four million people. Quite magical. The abandoned amusement park from GDR times that rots in the middle of it adds an interesting historic component to this hike.
