Re-opened on the first day of 2009, this Neo-classical public bath in the heart of working-class Neukölln was considered one of Europe’s most beautiful baths when it was built in 1914. Upon entering the building, one may be skeptical given the bland concrete facade. But wait! Just through the doors are grand Corinthian columns, mosaics, gargoyles, fountains and so much more—including screaming children.

Serious swimmers be warned: this is not a lap pool. The complex includes a large and small pool, a thermal bath, a sauna, massages are offered and many more amenities. Also, the pools are heated to a lovely 28 degrees Celsius. For the ladies, Monday is women’s day for the sauna, so take the afternoon off and relax.Quote_transparent

A vague taste of how Roman thermal baths must have been. Steam bath, sauna and a stunning swimming pool.
