It’s odd that sushi tyrant Kuchi would agree to share a bathroom with Cocolo, a Japanese noodle joint with a cult following that threatens to convert those turned away from its scene-y neighbor into loyal fans. Before he found a permanent location on Gipsstrasse, owner Oliver Prestele created a mobile ramen soup kitchen to serve up piping hot homemade ramen noodles in broth. Now, in his modest little space in Mitte he is able to do what he does best in the comfort of his own kitchen.
With a menu consisting mostly of ramen—choose from varying broths like soy-based Shoyu to the fantastically spicy TanTan, this is a prime example of one man’s labor of love. The proof is in the name: cocolo means “heart” in Japanese.
