Part of Berlin’s national galleries, the Alte Nationalgalerie is lodged on the UNESCO World Heritage site of Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte, next to the Pergamon and Bode museums. Designed by Friedrich August Stüler, the temple-like building opened in 1886 and was severely damaged during WWII. Massive reconstruction started in 1948 and was only completed in the early 2000s.

Today, the museum houses a vast collection of art from the Classical, Romantic and Impressionist periods from the beginning of the 20th century.Quote_gray
