One of Berlin’s most classically beautiful squares, embraced by the Konzerthaus and the German and French Cathedrals. Built in 1668 by Johann Arnold Nering, the plaza also holds a statue of German poet Friedrich Schiller in the center.
An extensive and charming Weihnachtsmarkt—a four-week long winter
market held in December—takes place here, replete with waves of vendors pawning everything from hand-knit gloves to hot steaming mugs of cinnamon-spiked Glühwein.
