<description_plain>Green space and the innercity are usually opposing terms. But things are different in Berlin, where a substantially sized (3 hectares) park sits amidst Mitte's popular bars, shops and galleries.

Until 1959 a castle by the same name of Monbijou graced this location. Now one of Monbijou's most notable attractions is its open-air swimming pool, where children splash about in the summer. A footbridge links the park to Museum Island, where most of Berlin's museums can be found.

If you're looking for shady refuge between shopping, dining and exploring the former East, a cool place to relax for the day, or just a brief walk through the grass and trees, then head straight for Monbijou Park.</description_plain>
