German Museum of Technology Berlin

In 1982, on the site of the former Museum für Verkehr und Technik (Museum for Transport and Technology), the German Technical Museum of Berlin was developed, housing an elaborate collection dedicated solely to technology.

The museum continues in the tradition of reputable technology based museums to which Berlin had been home until World War II.

The location of “Gleisdreieck” is also of historical importance: designating the site of the Anhalter freight station, a rail depot with two circular locomotive sheds and company factory buildings. This historical ensemble of architecture is one of the Museum’s finest attributes.

Upon completion of all development phases, the building will cover an exhibition area of over 50,000 square meters, and will be one of the largest technical museums in the world.
