Set in one hell of a cool locale, Kreuzbergian club Watergate is famed mostly for three key features.

Firstly, the view. Its downstairs floor has a glass-front panorama of the Spree from which you can take in the architecture of both the Oberbaumbrücke and the spate of uglier new buildings popping up on the opposite shore. Outside, on board a decked platform—where you can really have the feeling of dancing on water—you can catch one of the amazing sunrises reflecting across the water if you stay around long enough.

Secondly, the intimate main floor is illuminated by a technicolor lighting installation spanning the entire roof—leaving you with both a decidedly topsy turvy sense of orientation as well as the feeling of being on board some kind of intergalactic space station.

Its third—and least gimmicky—trademark is its programming. No weekend goes by without at least one big draw DJ name being plucked from the roster of an international techno label—think Perlon, Get Physical, Wagon Repair or BPitch Control. This place certainly bucks the city’s trashy club trend, but if purely world class minimal techno is what your after, then you’re at the right place.

Dress yourself up not too fancy, but up to club code and during summer months be prepare to cue a bit if your arriving around peak time at 02:00.Quote_transparent
