
Berlin’s musical standpoint is undeniable. From its heralded cabaret culture to inspiring U2 during the creation of their album Achtung Baby (1991), artists have flocked to this once-divided city, entranced by its fascinating history and the pockets of creativity that prosper throughout town.
MTV gave props to Berlin in 1994, hosting the very first Europe Music Awards in front of the Brandenburg Gate. This month, the association comes full circle as MTV returns to host the 2009 EMAs at the O2 World.
With an arena-load of stars and their entourages set to light up the city, we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of the legendary musical hotspots of Berlin as well as highlight some potential celeb-spotting locales.
