MICHALSKY - Berlin

“Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” – When the curtain fell to this last tune of the DJ Hell underscored MICHALSKY S/S2010 show we did indeed feel like going on a shopping spree. And the depressionistic Blade-Runner meets Wall-Street designed stage couldn’t keep us from it. Quite the contrary. You have to give it to the real-cloth-for-real-people-man, he does manage to brilliantly mix and match despair & devine, because – as he told us before the show – in times of crisis we will be more selective. And so he has designed a collection to feed our need for gratification with ‘survival fashion’ – premium pieces that he would love to see people combine with classy, shabby vintage – a style very much ‘Berlin’.

So turn up the volume – DJ Hell’s sountrack was again a real masterpiece of its own – sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

About

A photoreport about Karl Lagerfeld inspired 12year-old Michael Michalsky to get into fashion. Born in 1967 he grew up ‘near Hamburg’ and eloped to London after school to study at the London College of Fashion where he became part of the shrill, emerging acid house club scene. He first entered into the fashion industry as design manager for Levis, followed by his much noted adidas-years when he put the coolnees back into the iconic sneaker brand—not the least through design collaborations with Yohji Yamamoto, Stella McCartney and Missy Elliott. In 2006 Michalsky launched his own company with the premiumline MICHALSKY and the jeans line MICHALSKY Jeans. He lives and works in Berlin.
