Barack Obama Gives Speech in Berlin

Much has been said about United States presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s upcoming speech in front of Berlin’s Siegesäule Monument on Thursday, July 24th. This leg of the senator’s tour abroad—the only public appearance in a European city—will be a discussion of the relationship between the USA and Germany and the need for improving transatlantic relationships into the 21st century.

The speech is scheduled to last for 45 minutes. Expect thousands of spectators, and not only American ex-pats—a recent poll quoted in Der Spiegel found that 76 percent of Germans preferred Obama over Republican nominee John McCain.
