A few minutes in a dark space listening to Kavinsky’s lo-fi dance music and you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped back in time a few decades. The French DJ’s synth-heavy tracks with darting drum machine inputs create a tone that sits somewhere between New Wave, the soundtrack to video game The Legend of Zelda and Daft Punk and could easily be the backing music to any given ‘80s adventure or action flick.
