Happy birthday Bauhaus! In honor of the 90 years since your founding as the State Bauhaus in Weimar Germany, three mega cultural institutions have come together and wrapped up all of your trademark functionality and deceptively simple designs in a giant bow.

Bauhaus Archive/Museum of Design in Berlin, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Foundation of Weimar Classics present the joint exhibition “The Bauhaus Model,” an examination of the school’s cultural and historical impact in the art world and beyond. Works from the comprehensive exhibition—the largest ever shown—include Oskar Schlemmer, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, plus sketches and student plans from the Bauhaus school.

Martin-Gropius Bau is, of course, the most fitting place to hold the exhibition: its namesake architect was the great uncle of Walter Gropius, modern architect and founder of the Bauhaus School.Quote_transparent
