From the tower of Babel comes Babelfish. What attempts to translate only confuses, coming to a crash. Exploring the ever-nuanced relationship between language and technology, Brooklyn-based artist and graphic designer Ebon Heath has created a series of works titled, Stereo.Type.
Using words (traditionally expressed in 2-D or invisible terms) as his medium, Heath takes language and turns it into an object. Letters and words layer to create speaking mobiles, looking at what happens when language comes off the page and into space.
