One often hears the phrase, “Pray in Jerusalem, Play in Tel Aviv,” but the city of Tel Aviv, now on the eve of its 100th anniversary, is much more than the Middle East’s party capital.
Seen through the eyes of eight Magnum photographers—Robert Capa, David Seymour, Micha Bar Am, Leonard Freed, Erich Hartmann, Abbas, Paolo Pellegrin and Patrick Zachmann—the city’s true multifaceted personality is revealed. From images of war, street life, terrorism, glamor, religious practice, the beach, immigration and so much more, the exhibition acts as capsule of life for a city constantly pulsing from both techno beats and cultural strife.
