A select group of South Africa’s rising fashion design stars descend on Daimler Contemporary for the Fashion Design category of the Mercedes-Benz Award for South African Art and Culture.

Don’t expect tears or jealous tantrums at these awards, as the winners have already been notified of their victory. Tonight is more about celebrating the talents of the eight nominees, whose work will be on display at Daimler Contemporary until August.

Featuring everything from limited edition sportswear to celebrate the 2010 World Cup to designs which fuse South African traditions with modern trends, these designers will also present special exhibitions as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week later in the year.
