In this new reprise of the play by Nurkan Erpulat und Tunçay Kulaoğlu, the five male protagonists are stuck at the gates of heaven, unable to unequivocally answer the question: Are you gay or are you Turkish? In an attempt to examine the unique struggles of a group of people stigmatized for two entirely different reasons, Erpulat based his work on interviews with gay Turks in Berlin.

In an interview with the Tagesspiegel, Erpulat was asked to answer his own question, he answered with his sexual orientation over his cultural heritage, since the latter still noticeably (and negatively) impacted his day-to-day Berlin existence, whereas the local gay scene had embraced him wholeheartedly, connecting him with a circle of friends, professional networks and a German husband.
