After presentations in Luxembourg, Lausanne and Paris, DYSFASHIONAL the exhibition renews itself for the Berlin edition, opening last night at Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
Featuring artists and designers whose work have been pivotal in the evolution of recent creative currents—the exhibition explores ideas, processes, and visions through a broad spectrum of installations, performances and film.
Confronting the viewer with an intriguing olfactory reality, Sissel Tolaas’ The In-Betweens combines aromatic representations of creative capitals Berlin, Paris, London and New York, together with short musings from residents. The installation captures the unique essence of each city.
Marc Turlans’ visually striking series of collaged magazine portraits saw ball chain embellishments, prosthetic masks and carved out hollows dominating the picture-perfect fashion imagery underneath.
Other highlights include the light embracing glass and metallic sculptures by German designer Kostas Murkudis and the sensitive yet beautiful art film Anaesthetics by Hussein Chalayan.
Completing the exhibition is PARASITE—a gallery and store dedicated to showcasing the latest work and collections of emerging artist and designers. The hybrid space is created with an arrangement of Wallscapes by BLESS.
An exotic journey into the process of creation and experience, DYSFASHIONAL opens the world of fashion toward endless possibilities.
Exhibition runs until July 17.
