This July’s Berlin Fashion Week—and the unlike ‘Hot, Hip and Happing’ tour —seem far away and yet still so close. Bjoern Weide is the very lucky winner from our competition who can now call the gorgeous VAIO ‘P’ including a handmade case designed by Michael Michalsky his own. Congratulations!
In our chat—right before his mega Friedrichstadtpalast-Show—Michalsky explained why Berlin is the real world capital of modern fashion, mused over London Acid House days and declared his humbling admiration for Helmut Josef Geier. DJ Hell once again scored the soundtrack for the Michalsky Varieté. For a reminiscence of the spectacular show and its hell-ish score check out the video and for the ‘real-deal’ visit the Michalsky Boutique in Berlin Mitte.
According to latest news from the Michalsky camp we might soon be able to add some more locations under shanghai.unlike. However these will not be under the MICHALSKY banner but under a yet to be named line he is designing for Chinese sportswear company Dongxiang. The collaboration-loving designer has previously worked with Yohji Yamamoto, Stella McCartney, Missy Elliott and——in synch with his real-clothes-for-real-people mantra——Tchibo.
The Berlin style shows how fashion will be in the future – it’s much more avant-garde than many think
Michalsky himself studied in London (still one of his favourite cities, überhaupt!) – and this is where the fashion folk is gathering in September to celebrate 25 years of British Fashion. In honor of this very occasion unlike and jotta are teaming up to recruit a team of fashion students who will get special access to report from the scene on, behind and around the catwalks of London Fashion Week. For more details and how to apply check jotta.
