... they just fade away and stay.

Robert Rauschenberg, 82, one of the towering figures of 20th century art, died at his home in Florida overnight.

Rauschenberg realized that the space of a gallery, or a performance hall, is a cathedral for perception. Paintings as a hub of perception. And how about cars? Rauschenberg used a BMW 635 CSi as his canvas. In this piece, he used photographic methods to transfer images including images of famous, classical paintings to the car. Rauschenberg is the sixth in a collection of 15 “Art Cars” painted by brilliant artist including Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.

The series began in 1975 and all the cars have since been displayed in fine museums from the Guggenheim in Manhattan to the Louvre in Paris.

Paintings were airports for shadows and for dust, but you could also say that they were mirrors of the air.

Why not use this space to create an opening for heightened perception of life, of the present moment in general?
